Ingredients

  • 2 cups black cherries (washed, pitted and drained)
  • 1 teaspoons dark chocolate (Xocai Activ Powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 dash salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cups low-fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons chopped almonds

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly spray a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

Add the prepared black cherries and almond extract to the casserole dish. Sprinkle with the dark chocolate powder.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Cut the butter into the flour mixture until crumbly. Gradually add the low-fat milk and mix.

Stir in the chopped almonds and continue to mix until a soft dough forms a ball.

Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the cherry filling in the casserole dish. Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
