German Cherry Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 pound butter
3 teaspoons baking powder
a little lemon juice
a few drops of brandy optional
2 can pitted cherries
1 pch salt

Preparation

Beat butter until creamy , add sugar and eggs , lemon juice and brandy. Mix flour and baking powder together and add to above mixture.

Take about 3/4 of the mixture and mix well with hand. Butter a 9" x 12 " pan. Press the dough into pan.

Add the cherries ( drained ) and a little sugar.

The rest of the dough.....mix into crumbs and sprinkle on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. When done and cool , sprinkle with icing sugar.
