The Absolute Best Christmas Ginger Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup canola oil
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar (gold decorative sugar makes the best presentation)

Preparation

Combine brown sugar, oil, molasses, and egg with a beater and blend about one minute.

Add dry ingredients (excluding decorative sugar) and beat until blended well.

Pinch out dough and roll into balls about one inch in diameter.

Roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray.

Smash down gently (and just slightly) with the bottom of a glass.

Bake in 375 degree oven for exactly 8 minutes.

After cooling about five minutes, remove with spatula and cool completely on cooling rack.
