These crustacean bras by Laura Jacobs are part of an art series called Wallflowers, which features lingerie made of repurposed organic and inorganic material. Not all of these bras are meant to be worn; instead, they're meant to make a social statement and spark discussion about our nipped-and-tucked, tabloid-obsessed mainstream culture.

On her website, Jacobs discusses the state of modern feminism: bra burning has given way to plastic surgery. Her crustacean bras comment on the constrictive nature of women's lingerie in a cheeky way. The other bras in the Wallflowers collection feature antique glass, mother of pearl and even fish heads. Each sculpture is more elaborate than the last, and all are for sale.
The crustacean bras form just a small sampling of Jacobs' oeuvre; she also makes couture footwear, corsets and sculptures.
