Rondinella Grapes
About
A minor grape native to northeastern Italy’s Veneto region, Rondinella is planted exclusively to that area. With the primary Corvina grape, it is blended with Molinara and Negrara to produce Valpolicella in both its dry and amarone or recioto versions. Hardy, disease resistant and prolific, the vine bears medium large, deep green leaves with five exaggeratedly notched lobes and a silky underside. The clusters are medium large ad pyramidal, fairly compact and winged. The black violet berries are spherical, with smooth, dusky skin. The fruit is succulent, with sweet, one-dimensional flavors and moderately low sugar and acidity. Rondinella is not a sufficiently complete grape to stand alone.
