The tiger nut is a small tuber that is native to Western Africa where it grow in great abundance in the wild. It can be eaten raw or roasted and its juice is often made into a beverage. It can also produce a nondrying oil called chufa. It can also be called earth almond or yellow nut grass. In the United States it is usually treated as a weed.
