Watermelon Seeds
About
These approximately 1cm seeds appear all throughout the middle or "heart" of the watermelon. They are black when mature and are considered an important food around the world. The Chinese favor them over the flesh of the fruit, eating them peeled and raw. Soup is often made out of the seeds in Nigeria, and they are often toasted in modern Western cuisine. Watermelon seeds contain zinc and iron, as well as 13 grams of healthy fat. Making them an ideal, but often neglected in America, healthy snack.
