Tolman Sweet Apple

About

Apples have a long history in the United States with one of the earliest versions being the Tolman Sweet. It is a medium sized yellow apple believed to have originated in Massachusetts in the early 1800's. When sweet apples were prized possessions for home orchards in the nineteenth century, Tolman was the best and most popular of this class. This delicious apple was originally named Tolman Sweeting and has the synonyms Brown's Golden Sweet, Talman's Sweet and Tolman. The fruit is much esteemed for certain culinary purposes as pickling, boiling and baking. It is an exceptionally good apple for baking and is particularly suitable for cider making because it contains 14.6%% sugar that ferments to 7%% alcohol. A great apple to enjoy.
