A fairly large apple, derived from crossing the Golden Delicious and the Indo, with crisp, pale, greenish yellow flesh that is excellent for pies, desserts, applesauce and ciders.

Physical Description

It has a sweet honey flavor that is crisp and delicious. They have a greenish yellow color and are generally large in size.

Selecting and Buying

Seasonality: opctober, november
Choosing: Blooms in April. Harvest period is in October and November. A mutsu apple tree will produce apples for three to five years. Apples should be firm and greenish golden in color.
Buying: You will usually be able to get the best mutsu apples from a local orchard as most supermarkets don't like to carry such big apples.

Preparation and Use

The apples only need to be washed and then prepared with an apple corer, peeler, or wedger depending on the dish you're making.

Cleaning: Gently rub the apple as you run warm water over it to remove any unwanted germs or pesticides.

Conserving and Storing

Can be stored for months in a cool place in your home. This apple has a very long life.
