Join WordPress In Making Your Blog Work For You
Only eat vegan? Gone gluten-free? Pit barbecue aficionado? Connoisseur of cake? Are you the friend who plans trips according to what there is to eat at your destination, or just looking for a new idea to work into the dinner rotation? Food blogs are a great way to find tested, much-loved recipes from every corner of the world — and there’s no shortage of them on WordPress.com, where quick publishing, easy photo handling, and powerful blog customization tools make it easy to build a blog where the food is the star. (We’ll also be unveiling a new recipe widget for perfectly formatted, printable recipes, just in time for IFBC!).
WordPress.com's own Michael Cain (who’s not-so-gradually eating his way across Portland, Maine) will be on hand at the conference sharing his experience as a WordPress.com designer and developer to helping you blog better.
His session will make sure your site’s layout is as engaging as the story about your Aunt Mary’s lasagna recipe: “Establishing a readership for a blog can be as much about the visual appeal and functional performance of your site as it is about the content of your posts — especially for food blogs, which are often photo-driven and have to communicate textures, colors, and flavors. Together, we’ll cover tools that can help you create an engaging experience for your readers. We’ll talk about specific tips, with an overall focus on basic design sense, functional feel, and attention to feedback from readers. I’m looking forward to sharing the best practices I’ve discovered through my own blogging experience, and hopefully learning a new trick or two!”
WordPress is the platform of choice for bloggers from seasonal produce-lover The Plum Palate to travel and restaurant lover Going for Seconds to incorrigible sweet tooth Gotta Get Baked to urban homesteader Soil and Cellar. Different bloggers, different audiences, different looks — but one powerful platform that lets their food shine and takes the technical worries out of blogging.
WordPress is thrilled to be sponsors of IFBC 2013 — stop by and visit our booth, where we’re equally happy to talk widgets or wontons. And if blogging with WordPress.com seems up your alley, it’s simple to start up a new site or import your content. We’ll save you a seat at the table!
