A small family farmstead in Lincoln, NE, is the future location of a pumpkin patch, corn maze and hayrides. That is, if the city can finish with their bureaucratic stumbling blocks.
Josh and Amanda Kadavy have been trying to get permission to grow and sell pumpkins, creating a family oriented fall destination. The problem is in the location. Although in the country, the proposed site is within the city's three-mile jurisdiction. That resulted in Mr. Kadavy has been to at least a dozen meetings and local hearings, trying to get permission.
Apparently, the idea of a corn maze and pumpkin patch does not fit under any zoning permits, leaving everyone (except the Kadavy's) unsure of where to go from here.
It is interesting to note that this proposed new business will be open approximately 5 weekends a year. Let's hope everyone figures out what expectations the family has to meet and allows this much needed new enterprise get off the ground.
