Yum-Yum Sauce (Shrimp Sauce)

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tbsp sweet paprika
2 tbsp sugar
1/8 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp Sriracha(optional)

Preparation

1
If you've ever been to a Japanese restaurant and ordered sushi or ate at hibachi, this condiment is sometimes offered. It most traditional settings, its called shrimp sauce. In others, like at home or at my local Japanese place, its called Yum-Yum sauce. It is a sweet, mayo based sauce that really goes well with steak and sushi, and can also be a base for a crab salad. The ingredients for this recipe are subjective, so you may need to adjust for taste. But this is a great condiment to have at home, when you can't go and eat at your favorite sushi house.

The mayo you choose can be any brand, as long as its not a seasoned kind. Just get plain mayonnaise. I always go for the off brand inexpensive kind. Largely because in the end, it will not affect the flavor whatsoever.
3
Take mayonnaise and place in a bowl. Add all ingredients and stir. Allow to sit in the fridge at least 2 hours. If you want it to blend and get the ingredients mixed quicker it can be placed in a blender and blended well. If you feel the mixture is still too thick, you can add more water. Be sure to get it the consistency the way you like it. I like mine creamy but easy to squirt from a bottle.
