Glogg

Ingredients

1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup gin, vodka or aquavit
cup sugar
peel from one orange
8 inches cinnamon stick, broken
6 whole cloves
2 cardamom pods, opened

In a large saucepan, stir together the wine, raisins, gin, and sugar. For spice bag, place orange peel, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom in the center of a double-thick, 6-in square of 100%% cotton cheesecloth. Bring corners of cloth together; tie closed with a clean string. Add spice bag to saucepan with wine mixture.

Heat mixture to a simmer. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes; do not boil. Remove and discard spice bag. Just before serving, stir in almonds.
