Black Vatana Sambhar with Puttu

Ingredients

1 cup black vatana
2 inch ginger thinly sliced
4-5 garlic minced
5 green chillies slit
1 onion chopped
1 tomato chopped
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup coconut milk
5 tbsp shredded coconut
6 curry leaves
salt

Preparation

Soak black vatana in water overnight.

Cook black vatana in pressure cooker with turmeric powder, ginger ,garlic, slit green chillies.

Heat oil in pan

Add chopped onion. Sautee till it is translucent.

Add red chilli powder and cook till oil separates

Now add vatana.

Add coconut milk and shredded coconut

Add salt and curry leaves from top and close the lid .

Let it cook for 15 minutes

Serve it hot with puttu and banana
