Tea Time: Spice Cake with Chai Plum Spread

Bake up a loaf of spiced pound cake that's perfect with afternoon tea in the fall. This pound cake recipe from Food with Feelings is topped with a mashed spread of plums that were cooked in sweetened chai tea. The pound cake is flavored with some of the same spices found in chai tea.

Spiced Pound Cake with Chai Tea Plums

1 1/2 sticks (3/4 cup) butter, softened
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/4 cup whole milk
1 cup of sugar
3 eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup mascarpone
1 pound of plums (about 4)
3 chai tea bags or 3tbs loose leaf tea
3/4 cup of sugar
