My husband and I own an alpaca ranch on the eastern plains of New Mexico. The focus of our ranch is free-range alpacas to improve the health and the life experience of each animal. We sell alpacas, broker breeedings, and even board alpacas. We sell the alpaca fiber we shear each year to people who use it with a spinning wheel or to companies that use huge spinning processors to make thread or yarn. We have a large garden every year. Our goal is to be as self-sufficient as possible. It is 35 miles one way to the closest gallon of milk, 60 miles to the closest restaurant. I am a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator. I drive to town every weekday to teach people how to live with their diabetes in a healthy way. I love my life as a prairie Farm Girl.
