Apple Cranberry Strudel

Ingredients

6 Jonagold apples, peeled cored and grated coarsely.
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup melt butter (unsalted)
Sugar for dusting strudel top

Preparation

Mix apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cranberries and lemon peel together and set aside.

Take 3 sheets of phyllo pastry and drizzle with melted butter in between each sheet.

Sprinkle with ground nuts.

At one end, add enough apple filling to form a roll about 3″ in diameter, all the way across the pastry.

Fold in edges and roll up.

Repeat with second set of three pastries.

Brush with melted butter.

Bake at 350°F until phyllo is golden.

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, drizzled with caramel sauce, and yogurt (to cut some of the sweetness).
