KimLee Says: When you barbecue your meat on the grill, place the beans in a stainless steel shallow pan next to the meat. The smoky flavor will permeate the beans. Before you close the lid, pour a can of beer over them, plus at least a cup of water. This also makes the meat nice and tender, since the steam from the beans is absorbed into the meat. Just remember to watch the liquid in those beans every time you check the meat. Stir and add water as needed so the don't dry out andE burn. You can use beans out of the can or make them from scratch:

BEANS FROM SCRATCH:Rinse the beans under running water for 2 minutes. Remove any pebbles and debris. Bring to a boil, in a stainless steel pot with a tight fitting lid, using 6 C water. Boil 20 minutes, do not season. Pour off all the water, and drain the beans. Rinse under running water. At this point, either put the beans in a crock pot, on the barbecue grill, or back in the previous pot. Season with the above listed spices.
