Doi Rui

Ingredients

500 grams Rohu fish, cut into medium-sized pieces
1 bowl curd, beaten properly to avoid lumps
2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
Salt, as per taste
Sugar, as per taste
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 cup curd
1 teaspoon cardamom (elaichi) powder (roasted dry and ground)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (dalchini) powder (roasted dry and ground)
1 teaspoon cloves (laung) powder (roasted dry and ground)

Preparation

Fry the fish pieces in oil with salt and turmeric powder.

Add oil to another pan and add ginger-garlic paste, salt, sugar, turmeric powder, red chilli powder .

Add curd and stir nicely. There should be no lumps.Add little water.

When the gravy starts boiling, add the fried fish pieces.

Add ground elaichi, cloves, cinnamon.

In Bengali, Doi means 'curd' and Rui means 'Rohu fish'. Here is a very tasty dish made with fish and curd.
