Bigfoot Cookies

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup coconut

Preparation

1
Combine first four ingredients and cook over low heat until it comes to a boil, stirring it.
2
Boil for one minute. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
3
Stir well and drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper.
4
To make "Bigfoot" cookies: trace a foot on a piece of wax paper (this is great for kids and the cookies are rich, so small feet are better!), flip the paper over and carefully fill the outline with the cookie mixture.

How much oatmeal. It just says...cups of oatmeal. We are going on an Ohio Grassman camping trip in may and I would like to bring these.
Thanks.

About

This was my favorite as a kid. We used to trace our own feet, the cat's paws and, on occasion, dad's feet. I loved being in the kitchen and I could help with most of this recipe. As an adult, I made the traditional drop cookies for my high school students and they were a huge hit.
The recipe comes from an old church cookbook out of Wenatchee, WA, so I can't take credit for it, but it's one that will be stay in my family forever.
