Delicious Lasagna

Ingredients

2 or 3 cartons of tomato passata
1/2 chopped pepper (any colour)
Cumin
American mustard
Salt and pepper
Oregano
Bechamel sauce (enough for the size of Lasagne)
Dry lasagne pasta (enough for the container used)
1 teaspoon of white sugar

Preparation

1
Place meat in a bowl and add salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cumin, mix well and leave to marinate for about 10 minutes.
2
In a large pot or pan brown the meat for about 15 minutes and break large lumps of meat.
3
When meat is brown add the chopped spring onions, onion, and pepper, leave to cook for about 10 minutes until vegetables are soft.
4
Add tomato passata, oregano, mustard, and a tsp of white sugar. (For a spicy version add my The Taste of Calabria Spaghetatta di Mezzanotte)
5
Leave to cook in a low heat for about 1 hour covered so ingredients cook together yet to preserve liquid.
6
After 1 hour take meat off stove and leave to cool.
7
After meat is cooled down, place a layer of the dry pasta covering every single space in the tray. Add a layer of the meat spreading evenly.
8
Add a layer of the cooked ham, after a layer of the béchamel sauce and a layer of the cheese.
9
Continue to create layers until reaching the top of the container finishing with a layer of pasta.
10
At this point add a layer of the béchamel sauce or liquid from the meat mixture and a layer of cheese. This is to make the pasta at the top cook.
11
Cover container with aluminium foil and place in oven for about 45 minutes at aprox. 200ºC.
12
Check dish often as it might take less time depending on oven. When pasta is cooked take aluminium foil off and let cheese on top grill.
13
Serve hot!
