Foodista Sparkle Cocktail

This cocktail was specially created by Kathy Casey for Foodista's 1st anniversary. Happy 1st anniversary Foodista!!!

Fresh thyme’s savoriness is wonderful against the flavor of tangerine and the crisp sparkle of champagne.

You can also times this batch up (except for tangerine, thyme and champagne) and pre mix for a large crowd. Then just measure 3 oz per drink and add tangerine and thyme – and shake to order—and top off each cocktail with champagne.

This Foodista cocktail looks WONDERFUL. We are going to make some for our friends when they arrive Christmas Day.

Ingredients

1/2 small of a satsuma or tangerine
1 large sprig fresh thyme
1 1/2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce white cranberry juice
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
Splash of brut champagne or sparkling wine
small For garnishing: cranberry and a sprig of fresh thyme

Preparation

Squeeze and drop tangerine into cocktail shaker glass.

Bend the large thyme sprig and drop into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice. Measure in the vodka, cranberry, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Cap and shake vigorously.

Strain into a martini glass. Top with a splash of Champagne.

Float cranberry and thyme sprig in the drink for garnish.
