China To Execute Food Safety Criminals

May 31, 2011

From exploding watermelons to toxic baby formula, China has been plagued by food safety catastrophes. To try and clean up the food supply, the Chinese supreme court released a statement calling for tougher penalties, and even the death penalty, for those convicted of crimes related to food safety that cause death or injury.

The Supreme People's Court, China's supreme court, is also targeting politicians and officials who take bribes, protect or cover up crimes of food safety.

Do you think the death penalty is appropriate for food safety violations, particularly when people are killed?

Wow! I do think the death penalty is too strong a charge.
