Canadian Restaurant's Pee Joke Goes Viral

October 13, 2011

If you ever needed evidence of how much power one blogger can yield, look no further than the case of Edible Canada, a restaurant located outside of Vancouver. Recently, Vancouver Sun reporter Chad Skelton stopped into Edible Canada for a meal and at some point stopped into the restroom. He went inside the restroom and saw a hilarious sticker that appeared to ban men from peeing while standing up. So, he blogged about it.

Turns out, the sticker was a joke. The restaurant has a unisex bathroom at their new location and thought they would be funny. Now, they're laughing all the way to the bank.

"We saw the stickers, we figured it would be something fun and different," owner Eric Pateman said. "A conversation piece. We're not banning men from peeing standing up."

But the story was picked up by major websites like Gawker and Drudge Report, and led to a major spike in traffic to the restaurant's Facebook page.
