Mark Ruffalo's Hulk Diet

May 14, 2012

Mark Ruffalo went on quite the diet to prepare for his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers. Ruffalo said he wanted his diet and workout regimen to reflect Bruce Banner's clean and calm lifestyle that keeps his rage (and The Hulk) under control.

"I did 21 days of this diet and it was one meal a day, two shakes, no dairy, no meat, no caffeine, no sugar, no love, no fun, no sex, no drugs, no wine, no women," Ruffalo said. "I have to say the first week I had to lock myself away from my family so I didn't kill somebody, but then after that I started to feel really food."

Even now that Ruffalo no longer has to follow the diet, he finds he still doesn't crave the same indulgences he would before.

"I had a soda the other day and the sugar was so intense and so sweet," he said. "It was disgusting to me. And I used to love soda! So I don't recommend this diet to anyone who wants to enjoy their life."
