About
Fruitbodies are stalked. Caps are 2-10 cm wide, up to 5 mm thick, flat to depressed or funnel- shaped, velvety, golden yellow to cinnamon-brown, and concentrically zonate. Stalks are up to 5 cm tall by 1 cm wide, hairy to velvety, and coloured as the cap. Pores are angular, 2-4 per mm, golden brown to dark brown, with shallow tubes. Widespread and common, it fruits on the ground in sandy soil under conifers, often at the edge of trails and woodland paths.
