UK Sausage Addict David Harding Can't Quit Bangers

May 30, 2011

David Harding is a sausage addict in the U.K. who can't seem to shake his love of bangers despite spending almost £2,000 on hypnotherapy and professional counseling. "I genuinely cannot bear the thought of living without sausages," Harding told the Mirror. "Drug addicts crave their fix, and it's the same for me -- except my drug is a banger."

How many sausages can a banger addict eat? David Harding revealed that he's had between one and 13 sausages a day for the past 42 years -- a habit that costs him £700 annually. There's even a special freezer in his home that holds Harding's favorite bangers: McWhinney's Irish pork sausages. McWhinney's executive Kevin McWhinney recently issued a statement on Harding's obsession, noting, "We are pleased that this gentleman likes our sausages, but wish him well in his quest to control his habit."

David Harding is fighting an uphill battle when it comes to his sausage addiction. After a rock-bottom moment when his wife chose to switch things up at dinner and omit the beloved bangers, Harding sought professional help. After two hypnotherapy sessions and four sessions with a specialist therapist, Harding's habit hasn't changed a bit. "Apparently I just like sausages -- plain and simple. I don't see that there is anything wrong with that, but I do think that I have to look at ways to control my urges." The Mirror reports that experts say Harding's addiction isn't physical.
