Frozen Chocolate Dipped Bananas

August 26, 2011

Frozen chocolate dipped bananas are not just for fairs and theme parks, you can make them at home.  They are a simple treat that only requires two ingredients (three if you use the peanuts).  I recommend cutting the bananas in half so that they are easier to work with.  This way you can dip the bananas and cover them with peanuts quickly and efficiently. Your kids can even help make these!

Frozen Chocolate Dipped Bananas

Ingredients:
6 Firm ripe bananas
1 pkt (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate pieces
chopped peanuts (optional)

Directions:
Peel bananas and cut crosswise into halves. Insert a wooden stick into the end of each banana piece. Place in a shallow pan; set in freezer 2-3 hours. Melt chocolate in a small glass bowl in microwave oven (about 2 minutes at high); stir about every 30 seconds. With a spatula spread chocolate over frozen bananas, using lengthwise strokes. Chocolate will become firm as it spreads.  If chocolate becomes too firm to spread, return chocolate to microwave oven and heat for a few seconds on high. Roll in peanuts. Wrap in aluminum foil and store in freezer. Serve frozen.
