Even though the freezer may not be cooling properly, most of the time the solution is not more Freon but something else. In addition, without special tools, it is possible to overcharge a freezer with Freon. A further warning is that while the Freon is not toxic to individuals, it is not good for the planet's ozone layer. You could get a trained technician to check and make sure it is a Freon leak. If it is, depending on the age of the freezer and how well you like the unit, it could be wiser to buy a newer one. Repairing Freon leaks is not cheap and if you go that route get an estimate first.
