Question: I'm trying to remember the name of a salad sprinkling from about the 1940s

It had a nutty flavor. The sprinklings were small, like bread crumbs(but not real fine)

Was it Spike?

Thank you for trying! I don't remember it as a seasoning but more as a component of the salad when you sprinkled it on.

Could it have been chopped roasted nuts of some kind? Maybe mixed with fresh breadcrumbs?

thank you, but no. I found it by finally roaming through a health foods market the other day. It is toasted wheat germ. I remember putting it on salads, although it could be sprinkled on cereals and other things. best wishes and thank you.
