If you combine cream and sea salt, then whip or churn for a long time you will make homemade salted butter. One easy way of doing this is to put it into an empty mayonnaise jar and shake for about 10 minutes. The butter you make will taste better than store bought and this can be a fun experience for kids to better understand where their food comes from. When it is done, you will have a very soft butter and a leftover thin liquid, traditionally known as buttermilk. This is different than the buttermilk you find in stores, which is cultured like yogurt.
