Frozen custard is a cold dessert similar to ice cream, made with eggs in addition to cream and sugar. It typically contains 10% milkfat and 1.4% egg yolk. One claim traces its invention to Coney Island in 1919 Robert Sietsema, "Happy Days", Dining Section, The Village Voice, June 14th 2005 In some areas on the East Coast of the United States, "frozen custard" or "custard" has become used as a synonym for soft serve by people born since the early 1950's.

cups milk

2

tablespoons flour

1

cup sugar

1

dash Salt

1

tablespoon butter

2

eggs

1

can condensed milk

2

teaspoons vanilla

Step 1

Combine milk, flour, sugar, salt, and butter, and cook until slightly thickened. Beat eggs and add slowly to hot custard, beating briskly. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for a few more minutes. Remove from heat and add condensed milk and vanilla. Stir well.

Step 2

Put into ice cream maker and freeze as you would freeze ice cream.
