Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Ingredients

1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
2 larges eggs, beaten
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon Kentucky bourbon
9 inches pie shell, partially baked

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar, then mix in eggs, flour, salt, and bourbon.

Fold in nuts and chocolate chips, and stir well.

Pour into the pie shell; bake for 30-40 minutes, until center is set.

About

This is an adaptation of the trademarked Kern's Kitchen, Inc "Derby Pie" found in the Kentucky Derby Museum Cookbook.
You can substitute 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for the bourbon, if you prefer.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
