Succulent Black Forest Cake Recipe

Today is an entire day devoted to the celebration of the Black Forest Cake. And honestly, why not?

With a perfect mixture of dark chocolate and sour cherries, this particularly rich, moist dessert is easily one of the best cakes around.




3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled, plus more for buttering cake pan
1/2 cup (2 1/2 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour plus more for dusting cake pan
1/4 cup Dutch-process cocoa
Pinch of salt
6 large eggs, at room temperature
3/4 cup (4 3/4 ounces) superfine sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
