Famed Chicago eatery Alinea has raised the price of dinner to $210 in response to the increasing labor costs associated with the restaurant. That price remains a bit misleading though, according to The Price Hike. Servers strongly reccomend pairing wine with the meals (wine pairings start at $150). Factoring in wine, an 11% sales tax and a tip of 18%, the actual cost of a meal there is "$464 for one, $929 for two, or $1,858 for four."
The restaurant defends the pricing. Co-owner Nick Kokonas says, "We have waitlists of over 75 names per night. We could charge double and still be full."
Would you pay that much for a meal (no matter how good)?
