Sour Cream is not widely known or used in the Arabic food or cooking, but there are couple of substitutes that can be used if it is not available. First substitution would be Yogurt cheese that is aged for a week or so, it has to be thicker than usual and sour in taste. Another substitution is sour yogurt. Yogurt in most Middle Eastern countries is made from full fat milk and so thick and creamy it could be used instead of sour cream. Sour Cream translation into Arabic is : Crema Hamda, or كريمه حامضه.
