If you have a keen sense of smell, you will be able to tell by smelling it. Also, you might be able to look at the edges of the soup, if there is some discoloration or white residue, it's probably bad. If there were potatoes or fish in the soup, then you are better off tossing it, since these two things spoil quickly. If you are still unsure, then it might be better to throw it away then risk getting sick.
