Every day seems to offer something bizarre in the world of food, but here are two doozies.
1) Flaming Dessert Injures Four At Restaurant: Here's an accident that sounds like it came right out of the movies. Four customers were injured when a server used too much alcohol in the preparation of a bananas foster and the dessert exploded. The incident occurred at Ozona Blue Grilling Co. in Palm Harbor, Florida. Two of the patrons were treated at a local hospital and the other two were treated at the restaurant.
2) NYC Pizza Run brings new meaning to take-out pizza as runners grab slices mid-race: This race brings a new meaning to the word endurance. Participants in the second New York City Pizza Run completed a 2.25 mile run with three stops for pizza. At each stop, runners had to finish a slice of pizza. Peter O'Rourke won the race with a time of 15 minutes and 24 seconds. He said he planned to eat pizza for dinner.
