Venus Williams Opens Up About Sjogren's Syndrome Diet

July 13, 2012

Venus Williams announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with autoimmune disease, Sjogren's syndrome, and had subsequently adopted a raw vegan diet. The tennis star recently told CBS This Morning that she is still getting used to her new diet.

"I'm not perfect, so I forgive myself when I make mistakes and I do a lot of juicing as well, a lot of wheat grass shots... lots of fresh juices and things like that," Williams said.

While the autoimmune disease often leaves her fatigued and with an aching body, Williams said changing her diet has been a big help.

"I've made huge improvements since I was first diagnosed, so that has been huge for me, and it's a journey that I continue on, but definitely changing my diet has made a big difference."
