Question: Is Beef Stew Left Out Overnight Safe To Eat?

April 27, 2010
I made my boyfriend a pot of Japanese-style curry last night, but forgot to put it in the fridge before going to bed. It was probably 50 degrees in the apartment. Is it safe to eat?

By the health codes...no it's not. But bring it to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes or so and you should be okay.

Thanks Curt! That's the answer I was hoping for-- seems like a shame to let a good stew go to waste!

Good answer from Curt. Health codes say under 40ish degrees if longer than four hours. But realy...fully cooked and only 50 degrees you should have been ok....It's been a few weeks, everybody still breathing?

Haha, yeah-- David survived the stew! Thanks again, all!
