This dish was invented by an American physician, Dr. J. H. Salisbury (1823–1905) and the name was in use by 1897. Dr. J.H. Salisbury advocated eating beef three times a day for good health! This recipe is quick, easy and very savory! Serve with hot cooked Rice and a rich Brown Gravy poured over top

Ingredients

1 pound hamburger
1 egg
3 lg. crackers
Onion to taste
Garlic to taste
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Preparation

Mix well, form into patties and brown on both sides in electric skillet; add 1 can mushroom soup and 1 can water. Let simmer for 1 hour. Makes its own gravy.
