Tool: Molcajete

About

A type of Mexican mortar made from a special volcanic rock. Traditionally used to grind herbs, chilies, and spices. Also popular for making salsas and guacamole.

Though not the traditional use, many restaurants now heat molcajetes (pronounced mol-ka-heh-tay) and use them serve a mix of meats, sausage, and vegetables sizzling hot at the table.

Also great to make and serve salsa and guacamole.
