Jamie Oliver's birthday is on May 27, and to celebrate, the celebrity chef is attempting to raise $25,000 to train 1,000 "food revolutionaries" in Los Angeles. These food revolutionaries will be adults and children in "vulnerable" L.A. areas who'll learn to prepare healthy meals under Oliver's tutelage so that they can continue on to act as ambassadors of healthy eating in their communities.
"In the last few weeks, 20 culinary arts teachers have lost their jobs due to school budget cuts," reads the Causes.com brief. "Our ambition is to build an army of trained Food Revolution Instructors to put cooking back into the community and to equip families with the skills they need to sustainably change their eating habits and fight obesity from their home kitchens."
As of this post, Jamie Oliver is asking for $25 donations and has raised $1,110. All proceeds go directly to the Food Revolution and the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation. Do you think Oliver will get his birthday wish of $25,000?
