Bad Apples Installation Comments on Decay and Mortality

October 5, 2011

Most people think that rotting apples are refuse meant only for the trashcan, but artist John Dilnot used them as inspiration for his latest installation, "Bad Apples." The series is comprised of shadowboxes filled with artistic recreations of rotting apples, each with a name like "Wellington," "Greensleeves" or "Eden."

The "Bad Apples" installation transforms rotting apples -- traditionally thought of as ugly, deformed and unfit -- into art that's worthy of closer inspection. What do you think of Dilnot's creations?
