Traditional Potato and Cheese Pierogi

March 7, 2012

If you are from an Eastern European family, you have tasted pierogi. Mostly known as part of Polish cuisine, peirogi are a filled dumpling that are boiled before being fried in sweet butter. Traditionally, peirogi are stuffed with potatoes and onions but the additions of cheese, ground meat, and even fruit are not uncommon. The dumpling dough is made simply from water, salt, and flour that is rolled thin and cut into circles. I would advise making an extra batch of pierogi so that they can be frozen and eaten later when a craving strikes. Watch the video below to learn how to make this Polish comfort food at home.
