Retro Desserts: Dump Cake

August 17, 2012

Dump cake is a super easy but tasty retro dessert.  Popular in the 60's, this cake is made with mostly packaged ingredients.  Pie filling is mixed with pineapple before being topped with cake mix and butter.  If you are not a fan of pie filling, opt for fresh or frozen fruit mixed with 1/4 cup of sugar.  You can make dump cake with any fruit but blueberry and cherry are especially delicious.

Do you have to make up the cake mix or just dump the powder over the fruit?
