The Dunkin' Donuts app allows users to purchase a coffee for a friend. Through the application, $2 to $100 can be sent virtually to pay for an acquaintance's caffeine fix via text, email or Facebook. The app also allows you to purchase your own drinks via smartphone.
Starbucks has yet to offer an app to purchase for friends, but social experimenter Jonathan Stark came up with Jonathan's Card last year.
