Plan Check Kitchen + Bar is getting ready for Super Bowl Sunday with their signature wasabi beer nuts. Any sport's fan knows that snacks, especially spiced roasted peanuts, are a must-have for such a momentous occasion. Personally, I love preparing simple finger foods like this because I can customize them to my tastes. I like to pair these wasabi beer nuts with sweeter spiced nuts to provide a contrast in flavor.
Wasabi Beer Nuts

2 1/2 cups dry roasted peanuts
1 1/2 cups whole cashews
2 egg whites
2 tbsp soy sauce
9 tbsp white sugar
1 tbsp wasabi powder
4 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Step 1: Preheat oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2: In a mixing bowl, whip together the egg whites and soy sauce until frothy.
Step 3: For the seasoning, in a separate bowl, mix together sugar, wasabi powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Soak peanuts and cashews in egg white and soy sauce mixture for 10 minutes. Drain the nuts of excess egg white mixture until only a thin layer remains on nuts.
Step 4: Toss nuts in seasoning mixture to coat evenly. Spread the nuts out on a non-stick baking sheet and bake for 1 1/2 hours stirring every 15 minutes.
