Question: 200 Calorie Meals

August 7, 2010
My friend has me convinced that if you eat 200 to 250 calories every 2 hours, you'll stay full and lose weight. He lost 70 lbs doing this. But keeping calories that low is hard to do. I don't know what to eat with so few calories. Any suggestions? I LOVE FOOD~!

Halibut (and several other white fishes) have about 100 calories -135 calories for a 3-4 oz portion. I have a great recipe for roasted halibut w/ a yuzu passionfriut sauce that is quick and simple to make.

Also:
8 clams or 12 oysters or 4 oz lobster or 1 egg all = 100 calories
10 almonds or 10 peanuts or 20 chestnuts =100 cal
6 olives, 5 pretzels, 24 oyster crackers, 1 french roll, 1 1/2 lbs watermelon,
3 dates , 7oz pineapple, 1 orange, 1lb carrots, 4 oz rice 10 slices cucumber,
all are about 100 calories.

It's actually all in the portion control. Exercise and eating less. I lost a significant amount of weight eating regular food -but eating less. I would still order a burger with fries occasionally- but I would order a petite size burger (Red Robin offers them) with fries, and not eat the whole burger and only eat the tips off the fries. I bought smaller dishes so the portions looked reasonable. I lost about the equivalent of a 5th grader and have kept it off for almost 10 years.

I am sure it would work, just takes lots of planning, and you have to make sure you are not bored...the key is Lifestyle Modifications to keep you from gaining the weight back! Good luck.

Have you tried Shiritaki noodles? They come in the refrigerator section of the grocery store and a plastic bag, near the other Asian noodles. They are made of tofu and konjac, a yam variety, and are extremely easy to prepare. These are one of the lowest caloric foods that I can think of! They're pretty tasty too.
