Barolo, one of Italy's greatest red wines, is made from the Nebbiolo grape primarily from the Piedmont region. It's a rich, full-bodied wine with a high alcohol content (minimum 13% but often higher than 15%), high acidity, and high tannins. It is known as "the wine of the kings, the king of the wines." Aromas are of tar and roses, the taste reminiscent of raspberries and chocolate.
What to eat with Barolo: rich meat, pasta, and risotto dishes.
